Alleged electoral corruption committed in the Soroca district in the context of the presidential elections and constitutional referendum of 2024

During the electoral period of September–October 2024, the accused Crețu Valentina, acting in complicity with other individuals, contributed to the preparation of voter bribery by identifying individuals, collecting personal data, and installing the PSB application on their phones. In exchange for certain sums of money (≈2500 Russian rubles), the voters were to vote according to the instructions of the “VICTORIE–ПОБЕДА” bloc in the presidential elections and referendum.

The financial transfers were initiated, but were not utilized by the recipients, who, being informed by media sources about the consequences of these actions, removed the respective application from their phones, thus not having access and possibility later to withdraw the money transferred in their name, leaving the act at the stage of attempt.

First court: Conviction

Suspended sentence. Imprisonment: 12 months

The act was classified as an attempt/preparation, as the actual transfer of money or concrete influence on the vote was not demonstrated. The involvement of the accused was limited to technical facilitation (data collection, access to PSB), without control over financial means. The court imposed a lighter sentence (imprisonment with a suspended sentence), considering the limited role of the accused and the fact that she acknowledged the act.
